Retail Congress MENA 2023
Retail Congress MENA is the region’s largest retail and shopping centre event. Organised by The Middle East Council of Shopping Centres and Retailers (MECS+R), Retail Congress (RECON) MENA brings together retail industry professionals under one roof for two days of invigorating discussion and world-class content. The event allows real estate professionals to network and establish business relationships while sharing important views and experiences with key players in the retail industry.
RECON MENA presented new insights, strategies and exciting innovation opportunities that reimagine the future of the retail and shopping experience. The theme for the 2023 conference was “Year of Reinvestment”.
Yardi attended Retail Congress MENA on October 23-24. Said Haider took part in a panel discussion with Cem Eric from Esas Properties and David Macadam, CEO for MECSC. The session focused on ‘Technology in Retail Real Estate: How technology eliminates the burden on retail mall operators.’
Highlights from the panel session:

“A couple of years ago, our clients’ focus was on centralising all their data in one place for diverse analytical reporting and digitising processes that couldn’t be accomplished in Excel. Today, the emphasis has shifted to brainstorming and analysing this data for effective insights and making informed decisions for the future. It’s about gaining a competitive edge in the market, enhancing operational efficiencies, and improving the overall customer experience.”
“Having the Yardi platform, whether used to its full capacity or partially, has significantly alleviated burdens for retail clients. It streamlines tasks from prospecting and capturing retail sales data to financial accounting, billing, forecasting and ultimately visualising how the shopping centre is performing. However, it’s not just about the technology. It’s about how people choose to utilise it and whether they’re maximising its full capacity and using it in the right way.”
